This term you are to use your homework time for Art to research and produce a project on:
Patterns in Culture
You will have 4 weeks to work on this homework task. You must hand in your completed project during your lesson on Monday 29th June.
Please produce your project on paper [not in your sketchbooks] minimum size A4. You may take paper home if you wish. Some of your work may be produced on the computer but remember this is an Art Project so we are looking for some good drawing and presentation skills. Your final work must be bound / collated and not single loose sheets. Be imaginative! Your completed work will be assessed as part of your YR 8 work and there will be awards for effort and standard of work.
Your project should contain 7 pages which includes the cover.
Page 1- cover - produce a visually interesting cover. This should include the Title: Patterns in Culture, your name and some interesting images. You should use Colour and make it look exciting.
Page 2 – Research Aboriginal Art. Find 4 different images, present carefully and annotate.
Page 3- Produce a careful drawing [A4 at least] of One of your images, selecting your media carefully.
Page 4- find 4 examples of Indian Pattern designs e.g. henna decorations. Present these with annotations.
Page 5- produce an A4 drawing of one of your Indian images from page 4-select media of your choice e.g.: colour pencil or oil pastel or collage. This could be a photograph of your own henna design
Page 6- research Art of the MAORI, find 4 examples, present with annotations
Page 7- produce an A4 drawing of a piece of work that interests you.
Extension Task: produce your own piece of work in response to the theme of Pattern in culture. This can be any size and media you choose. It could be 3-d or 2-d. you could combine elements of different cultures.
