Hello, my name is Christopher Hensley. I am planning to attend Kennesaw State University this coming fall. After two years there, I hope to transfer to the University of Georgia to continue my education. My choice for my senior project was installing a new speaker system and radio in my truck. Overall, it was an exciting project, at times very annoying in tedious, but nonetheless a good experience.
My paper topic was about techniques to save gas and improve your fuel mileage in your vehicle. When I first started my research, I was shocked about all the things that could hurt your fuel efficiency. Something as simple as having windows rolled down over a certain speed can decrease it. Another surprising factor was the weather conditions, people in different areas of the world need to know the different tips to save their gas.
The auto industry is a huge spectrum when it comes to specializing in one topic. So I feel like the more you learn, the more opportunities you give yourself. There was many issues that I had to overcome on my product. The wiring for everything was the most annoying part. Running wires in and out of every hole and crease in my vehicle was at times tough to do. Other than that everything seemed to easily work out right.
To be a good auto-mechanic it just takes a lot of time and practice. The more you train and practice is the only way you can get better at it. My research showed me how much detail goes into everything. Just a few common mishaps everyday can ruin your cars lifetime. Ever since my research I have been trying to eliminate those bad habits and improve my gas mileage and overall efficiency of my truck.
My thoughts about the senior project are definitely different from the beginning of the year. At first, I thought it was going to be this terrible drawn out project requiring a lot of effort and time. Ever since finishing, I realized that through all the time spent doing it I can conclude that it was a great experience.
