Cherokee High School
I built a barbecue grill for my senior project.
I had to go through several steps to build a good grill.
I explored several different welding techniques.
My mentor was Jimmy Loggins. He is an skilled welder with many years of experience.
He helped me throughout the process to make sure my grill was built in the correct way.
1. Cut the doors.
2. Grinded the doors.
3. Set the doors.
4. Put the hinges on the door.
5. Put the straps on it.
6. Made the grate and put it in.
7. Got the trailer to haul it.
8. Burned out the tank.
9. Made repairs to the trailer and painted the grill.
Career / Postsecondary Plans
For my career I would like to become a welder or mechanic. I am working towards getting the welding certification.
I would also like to work in the automotive industry. I love to work on cars and just be outdoors in general.
This project was a learning stretch for me because I had never welding something of this magnitude before. I had to be careful to not make a mistake in each step because it could’ve affected the final product.
I had to use my time wisely because building this grill took a lot of time. I had to sacrifice some social time in order to work on it.
I had to communicate with my mentor to make sure we were on the same page. I had to take his lead on some of steps to make sure it was done the right way.
The grill was constructed out of a 250 gallon propane tank.
A good friend donated the tank to me.
Thank you for your time
Have a great evening
