DGMF E.M.P.L.O.Y. PROGRAM SPONSORSHIP 8/3/2016
a LETTER TO THE spONSOR
The Damion Gosa Memorial Foundation, is a tax exempt organization founded in memory of Damion to reach At-Risk Youth through our programs and events with the great hope of them being transformed.
Each year, this foundation holds an annual basketball tournament, Walks, & Block Party’s with hopes of changing this generation who are our future. We accomplish this through our mission of Educating, Encouraging & Equipping our youth to steer away from crime, drugs, & violence. Through simple and random acts of love and kindness, we bring our communities together in unity!
Our programs include an At-Risk Youth After- School and Summer Program, Food Boxes, Clothing, Household, & Personal Items Distribution; Mothers of Murdered Children Support Program, and Homeless Outreach. The programs, & events we hold which our youth are a part of, teach them respect, dignity, self-esteem, how to give back. It also raises an awareness in the community that we all need to come together to help each other. By standing in unity we can succeed in stopping violence!
Our events are designed to include entire communities with a main initiative to raise awareness of the gun violence that permeates our society. We believe in educating not only our youth, but also the entire community on its dangers and to become a catalyst to bring forward solutions and stop gun violence & all crime. We seek to change our community as a whole by providing awareness, education, and the knowledge of gun safety. Utilizing knowledgeable & encouraging speakers, with love, we offer opportunities that will transform a generation and bring the hope of life through the light of that love.
We are Developing Great Minds for the Future!
Founder & President
E.M.P.L.O.Y.- Our After School and Summer Youth Programs teach our youth respect, dignity, self-esteem, nutrition, theater and physical education through sports and education. We Encourage & Motivate Positive Leadership Opportunities for Youth! (E.M.P.L.O.Y.) utilizing this program. Through our choir we teach youth they can bring cheer when they perform before the elderly in nursing homes, assisted living homes, & other children at Children’s Hospital. They learn how to give through our Food Box, Clothing, & Household Goods Distributions. Through our field trips we are consistently teaching. Whether it’s bowling, skating, sporting events, Science museums, or the Arts; our youth are always learning because we are always teaching for there is a lesson learned in every field trip/event.
Besides our yearly Basketball Tournament, we plan 5K Walks, Block Parties, Concerts (which the youth perform), & Fundraising events which the youth assist with to learn teamwork, and strategies that will follow them throughout their lives. Once a month if funds allow, we take the youth on an outing/field trip to places like Sporting events, bowling, skating and amusement parks. Overnight pizza parties are one of our favorite ventures.
For our everyday needs we are seeking donations to use as door prizes & raffles for our events, and monetary donations to help offset the cost of our events & our programs. We need contributions and/or grants for our general operating costs and supplies. We are seeking $5,000 for small business operational/programs costs; however, NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL! We need you to partner with us because we cannot do it alone, we need YOU to help us continue on in these endeavors to transform the lives of the youth and people in our communities!

Our After School program operates Monday thru Thursday from 3:30p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a different curriculum focus each day. We begin the Fall session in August and we end May 31st. Our Summer program begins with our Annual Basketball Tournament the end of June and runs until we begin the Fall After School Program. The Summer program consists mainly of lunches, trips to swimming parks, museums, & 1 out of town trip.
We currently have 35 plus youth who attend the regularly weekly functions, about 50 plus who attend at least one day per week, and 100 plus who attend our yearly events. We measure our success by accessing where our youth are and what they know about what we teach. By implementing an entry and an exit (beginning of program and end) questionnaire we can determine how effective we were in instilling the attributes that are our goal to instill that the youth’s lives are transformed.
Through the Food Box, Hygiene, Clothing, and Household Items Distribution, we serve over 100 families within the community and another 50 emergency Food Boxes are distributed and delivered.
Currently the organization is based in a small home in South Phoenix that once belonged to Damion’s grandparents. While this has been a very convenient location to begin to work with at-risk youth because of the community in which it lies, it needs additional resources for growth and to expand its total vision. The foundation’s total vision for the future is to be able to reach even more youth and families who need its services. DGMF has operated for the past 6 years because of the generous contributions of these individuals. They realize the long term goal of DGMF to become a community life center and work tirelessly to achieve it. This goal includes establishing a 10,000 square foot community center so services can be added.
(Projections & Project Costs will be provided upon request) assist with to learn teamwork, and strategies that will follow them throughout their lives. Once a month if funds allow, we take the youth on an outing/field trip to places like Sporting events, bowling, skating and amusement parks. Overnight pizza parties are one of our favorite ventures.
