Hello to the judges who are reading this, my name is Brian Theodat, and I plan on going to Chattahoochee Technical College. The reason I picked carpentry is because I was not old enough to do a medical based project, so I picked one my uncle’s coworkers who is associated with carpentry as a facilitator. So I asked who would be a good facilitator and I was pointed to Chris Evans. He agreed to help me on my senior projects and brainstormed with me on what I should do.
My topic is about crafting a table and the tools needed for that, the materials I would need to use for crafting the table, and the materials required. I also learned from the research that it would require craftsmanship and I would need steady hands to be sure not to injure myself. It would also require that the width and length of the wood should be precise so the table would look neatly crafted. So after then I would paint the table and give it a thick coat of polythurine.
My product is going to be a table because I have never crafted anything before, so crafting a table with carpentry would show some difficulty for me. The obstacles that I overcame was having no knowledge about carpentry whatsoever and the knowledge of sanding and painting as well. Yet it turned out neat and as I wanted it to be. So now I have the knowledge of everything that made me able to make the table the way it is now.
My topic and research has to do with crafting furniture or repairing damaged materials. What I learned about myself from crafting is that it’s fun and requires precision of measurements and a bit of math is involved as well so the width and length can be neat, clean, and a perfect fit. The crafting of my senior project would have something to do with the way I make certain objects that could be of some use and help to people.
What I have to say about the senior project is that it was hard and really taught me a lot that I didn’t know about craftsmanship and how it can somewhat be difficult and that I should be careful around tools that can harm you. It could really help me on either pursuing a career repairing damaged furniture or making objects and that would honestly be fun to consider. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to come and see the project, and I hope you have a wonderful day.
