When you Notarize any Document…
It must have a notarial certificate.
This past week I realized that this is a topic that at least ten notaries I know desired more information on!
Stay with me!!! I need to tell
you about a stunt by an @$$CLOWN notary I know and you’ll see.
@$$clown means :
a donkey wearing a red wig and clown suit
Texas Notary Wisdom:
It’s easy to forget the notarial certificate requirement when you’re new! You’re nervous or want to do a great job…it is common to overlook the obvious. Lots of experience notaries are still not clear about it.
A Texas Notary is not authorized
to notarize a document unless
the document has a certificate attached and the words are okay according to Texas laws.
We said it twice…that’s almost enough!
What does a Texas Notary Certificate Say?
Our main certificates are: Jurats (signer is swearing) and acknowledgments for acknowledging
Or the signer saying he or she did something for a genuine purpose.
What do you mean “a certificate?”
Certificates have words like…
“sworn to and subscribed…”
or “acknowledged before me….”
The notary adds information
to the certificate like…
-where the notarization took place….
-how the notary identified the signer, and
-the date and time it all took place and more.
NO CAN DO!
No certificate on this
Notary Nerb Enots
No! Don’t do it Texas Notary Nerb Enots!
We will talk about how to decide what certificate in the next video / slideshow. EMAIL
Don’t be a donkey in a clown suit!
Attach a notarial certificate.
Email Brenda Stone – she will send you templates you can keep and print anytime (Bren Stone is Nerb Enots spelled backwards.)
Now, the scoop….
I SAW A DUMB TEXAS NOTARY NOTARIZE A DOCUMENT
WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE !!!!
@$$CL0wn N0tary Reveal – STAY TUNED.
NOTARIZED A PROMISSORY NOTE!!
It had no notarial certificate attached because 99% of the time, promissory notes aren’t notarized. #@$$CLOWN
The PROMISSORY NOTE SAID “SEAL…” by the signature line…
…So THE Clown stamped it.
Now you know why I am calling her NAMES. Name-calling is okay, right?
The donkey in a red wig (meaning the a-clown) later claimed that
it was her first signing…first time she had notarized documents in eight years…she was a whiner.
I don’t want any of my readers to be @$$clowns!
BY THE WAY @$$clown is one of my favorite words and I finally figure out how to slip it into an article for notaries!
I’M TELLING YOU THIS STORY
Dear notary friends,
I know this is out of character for me, but hang in there for a few more slides.
I am ranting about @$$clowns, red wigs on donkeys and dumb notaries because I want to be shocking.
It’s not often a middle-aged++ notary has a good reason to be “shocking!” Let me have this new few minutes.
So, thanks for your patience! BRENDA@TXNP.US
Back to the c l o w n thing…
But, I’d like to
see the growing
…and YES, I called out someone for disobeying notary laws and made harsh remarks.
It sounds bad….sorry!
SO, WHO IS THE DONKEY NOTARY?
Who is the donkey wearing a red wig, big red nose, and a scary Pennywise clown costume?
Who could be that dumb?
Yep…that’s ME…Brenda Stone, super notary.
It was about 16 years ago…I got so excited about a signing and getting commissioned after several years had gone past and I let mine lapse. I didn’t think straight.
I put the seal on the document and
almost sent it off like that. Yay, just in time, I came to my senses.
Still blushing after telling that. GAK.
Sigh…I’ll probably never get work again after saying @$$clown a hundred times.
I’ll probably get fired from my day job.
Please make it worth my while.
Don’t notarize documents without notarial certificates.
If you are a Texas notary, you need to join our Facebook group!
Invitation to my Notary Family in Texas
Whatcha waiting for?
Join us! It’s free!
We don’t hang out by the Long Branch Saloon and Yogurt Bar together, and we don’t hold hands and sing around a campfire, but we are nice people and we help each other with notary issues.
By and large, we are the nicest group on the ‘net of notaries in my opinion.
The members of our group maintain respect for one another.
We are working on . . .
--Establishing a private marketing lab – a forum for Texas notaries who are serious business seekers and marketers. (Maybe by tomorrow?)
--Developing plans for meeting with our Texas lawmakers.
--A marketing plan to reclaim our general notary work that signing services are starting to get their hands in.
Did I mention it is free for two years for (about )the next 10 TX notaries who sign up?
We’ve got a robust
http://texasnotaryprofessionals.org/website for marketing our notary services.
My list of contacts is long and I’m ready to start my marketing campaign but we need about 20 more notaries before we can kick off gracefully.
I am a
http://notariesandnotarynews.com/notary news hound and blogger. I write a tremendous amount. I need to know what content YOU would love to read!
Come tell me what’s on your mind! I’ll research it and get answers.
LOOKING FOR ASSIGNMENTS? Get a listing at TexasNotaryProfessionals.org – We’re ‘bout to get our marketing strategy on --- a private, members only, marketing lab for Texas notaries will hopefully be ready tomorrow!
No money or spam is involved in this invitation!
