October Woven Basket
This month's Woven Basket recipient is dedicated to faith-based action on climate change. In the Northland in the last two years, members of over 30 faith communities (including UUCD, of course!) have participated in forums, marches, advocacy campaigns, and energy efficiency projects to address global warming.
Watch for these MNIPL-Arrowhead events this fall:
Late October, at Pilgrim UCC: a forum/discussion on the Standing Rock water protectors, who are challenging the DAPL pipeline, featuring people who have been active at the camps
Sunday, Nov. 20 1 -3 pm at FUMC/Coppertop: "Here Comes the Sun", a resource fair and family-friendly community event about solar power and the opportunities available to individuals and organizations in our community.
Your support for MNIPL will support local work and continued coordination with the statewide network.

ATTENTION NEWCOMERS AND VISITORS! - Another "Getting to Know You" Gathering - Sunday, October 23
We'd love to get to know you-and we're thinking maybe you'd like to get to know us, too. So--we've scheduled a brief GETTING TO KNOW US gathering in the Heritage Room (at the top of the ramp) immediately after the Sunday service on October 23.
You'll meet kindred spirits and learn how to get connected and how to find support for your spiritual journey. There'll also be time for your questions.

UUCD Caring Community News
Pat Stoddard and her family send their heart-felt thanks for the many cards received in the last couple of weeks from caring UUCD friends.
Spirit of Life Granola
Some kitchen elves made a great batch of Spirit of Life granola yesterday, full of fruits, nuts, and organic oats, sweetened by Clint Moen's marvelous maple syrup. You can purchase a bag on Sunday if this is your thing. New price is $9 per 1 pound bag, well below the price elsewhere for a comparable quality granola.(Yes, cost of ingredients has gone up.) Even better, bring your container this Sunday and get it filled directly. This saves on throw-away packaging. See Geiger during the brunch/social hour with your container in hand.
