Dear Judges, My name is Angie Cruz and I am 17 years old. For My senior capstone career project I chose to be a Makeup Artist in the cosmetology Field. One of my goals is to be a certified makeup artist and open up my own beauty salon. I would also like to make my own cosmetic line and sell products worldwide. Once I have accomplished these dreams I would like to go back and accomplish my biggest goal which is attending Kennesaw State University and join their nursing program. I would love to major as a Registered nurse and work at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
My Research paper is about the evolution of makeup throughout the centuries. I was not aware of how cosmetics have played a big role in history for centuries. I learned the significance of makeup in the Egyptian time to now our modern world. Over the years makeup was only known to be worn by rich women and powerful people. Now makeup has no gender, race, color, and ethnicity use. It's astonishing to see the variety of makeup brands that have developed and the cost for these products.
My product for my senior project is a makeup tutorial during which, I demonstrate various cosmetic brands I use to complete a full face look. The products I use in the tutorial are part of the evolution of brands in cosmetic companies. One of my biggest obstacle was to purchase all the cosmetics I needed for my tutorial. My plan was to buy one product at a time so it won't be as costly. I got a job as a host to buy the products I used for my tutorial.
Ever since I was in middle school I knew I wanted to pursue this career as a Makeup Artist. Once I started researching this career, I was more inspired to become a certified MUA. I am amazed about the things I thought I knew and didn’t know of cosmetics. I learned many new tips and tricks of how to properly wear cosmetic products. I learned to be skillful with my hands and gained a lot of patience. My biggest desire is to be one of the best MUA there can be and open up my own beauty salon.
I think the senior capstone career project is an amazing project offered to students. It gives us an opportunity to research a career we are interested in. It may be very time consuming and a lot of work must be put in to accomplish this project . A lot of obstacles can come your way such as finding a mentor to guide you through out this project. Knowing how to balance your time to finish your product is the biggest thing about this project. The best outcome of this project is knowing whether or not you want to pursue the career you researched. I would like to thank you for your time.
Sincerely, Angie Cruz
