Monday 11/20/2017 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Activity: The day I received my loving animal, I made sure to purchase all the supplies I would need in my journey. I bought a bed, food, and some necessities like toys. When I got home, I had to decide where in my house would be the best place to settle everything down. I concluded that my room would work best for the comfort of the dog.
Commentary: The entire process was very stressful. When it comes down to animals, it is all about responsibility. After placing everything in my room I knew this was the perfect spot because Robby, the dog, would always be around me creating a strong bond.
Photo Caption: In this photo, I have set up my dog’s bed and toy area. I made sure to set everything up real nicely so it would enhance my room. During this process, it took me a lot of time due to my OCD.
Tuesday 11/21/2017 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Activity: I was asking my facilitator, Kim, a question over text because I do not get to see her that often. I should meet with her in person very soon to snatch a picture.
Commentary: Honestly when it comes to texting people that I do not know well, it can be quite frightening. It might not show that often but I can be extremely shy and quiet.
Photo Caption: I decided to ask my facilitator a very simple but important question about my dog biting himself. I did not want to rush to the vet for no reason if it’s just fleas.
Tuesday 11/21/2017 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Activity: I was giving my dog a flea bath due to the response my facilitator gave me. I had my grooming supplies from my first shopping trip ready for this occasion.
Commentary: This was quite enjoyable for me. It was difficult to get him to stay in the bathtub so I had to hold onto to him. He kept jumping out and running away from me.
Photo Caption. In this photo, you see me scrubbing my dog with shampoo giving him a nice cleaning. It was fun especially at the end when I got to blow dry him.
Wednesday 11/22/2017 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Activity: I was trying to teach my dog some tricks but luckily, he knew some basic ones like paw, sit, and lay down. He really enjoyed getting free treats I know that for sure.
Commentary: I am a very impatient person so this was quite frustrating for me. I was hoping I would teach him tricks very fast so he could do them at any other time. I must keep doing this over and over every day until he eventually understands.
Photo Caption: In this photo, I am holding a treat up and getting my dog to give me his little paw. This is one of the tricks that he already knew. Hopefully I can ramp it up a bit and he can learn some unique things.
Thursday 11/23/2017 9:00-10:00 p.m.
Activity: I was taking my dog out for a nice adventurous walk at night. I go outside a lot so I have been taking him around with me a good bit. He seems to really enjoy the outdoors.
Commentary: Every time I go for the leash, he is already ahead of the game. He is prepared for me to put the leash on so we can get on with our walk. What I have noticed is that having a dog is time consuming especially if you want what is best for him.
Photo Caption: In the photo, I am walking my dog outside so he can get on with his business. During our walks, I have started to notice that when my dog barks he gets very nervous and starts walking faster.
Friday 11/24/2017 5:00-5:30 p.m.
Activity: I am administering my dog with his medicine, which goes in his ear. This was odd for me considering that I could tell that he did not want me to do it. The medicine is for an infection that he has.
Commentary: I felt bad at first giving my dog his medicine. I know it will make him feel better though afterwards. After putting the drops in his ears, he went to the rug and proceeded to smear his ear into the rug. I guess that was his way of trying to get over the drops.
Photo Caption: In the photo, you can see me administering medicine into my dog’s ear. It was a pretty short process but it was difficult at first to get him to stay still. Eventually after a few seconds of him tugging away he just gave in to getting the drops.
Saturday 02/05/2017 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Activity: On this Saturday I decided to have a little photo shoot for my dog. When fostering an animal, you must have photos that appeal to the adopter. I put the bandana that was supplied to me from my fostering organization and snapped away.
Commentary: You would think that a photo shoot for an animal would not be a struggle. I concluded very early in the process that this was going to be a hassle. I would have him in a perfect position and then he would look away or move.
Photo Caption: In this photo, I finally got my dog to be in the perfect position. Behind the scenes of this photo is my mom holding onto his legs.
Sunday 02/06/2017 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Activity: The most time-consuming activity was the research that led up to a lot of my progress. I had to research what to put in my description for some of the applications that I am using. Certain words could hook in a possible candidate.
Commentary: So for roughly more than 2 hours, I was dumbfounded at my computer looking at articles and top 10 tips for getting an animal adopted.
Photo Caption: Here I am seen in the act of research. I would have to say that my mom captured me on my good side.
Monday 02/07/2017 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Activity: An hour after my research was concluded I had to plug that knowledge into some applications. I downloaded, made accounts, & customized my profile on many different applications.
Commentary: The only hurdle that even slowed me down during this process was that some of the applications were not user friendly. If I did not know how to add my dog than I willingly had to request help for some basic assistance that some applications already have plugged in.
Photo Caption: In this photo, it captures my dog’s profile which for this application was very basic. It gives you a little background knowledge about him before clicking on him.
Tuesday 02/08/2017 5:00-6:00 p.m.
Activity: Right after school I had just gotten home after the gym and had to give my dog a little groom session. I gave him a bath along with a brush and hair dry session after.
Commentary: In full honestly, I do bathe my dog quite often I think that correlates with the fact that I am very clean myself. I think he has gotten to the point where he knows when it is cleaning time because he enjoys it.
Activity: On this Saturday afternoon, I found myself creating flyers for my dog’s adoption. I included all my dog’s info on the flyer along with contact info and pictures. I took a template that I found online and added my twist to it.
Commentary: This process took a lot of effort considering making a visibly appealing flyer along with a pop. I was having a lot of difficulties with the pictures since they would not fit on the template causing excess pages to appear. Eventually I found a design finished my flyer.
Photo Caption: In this photo, it shows my flyer that was made by yours truly. Involved with the creation of my flyers, my printer was giving me immense technical difficulties.
Activity: On Sunday, we had an appointment at our local vet. He was given an ear examination since he might have a yeast infection. Alongside that he was given three shots that were necessary to have for his adoption.
Commentary: Robby was very nervous when we were sitting in the waiting room. When the nurse came in to take him into the back, he did not want to leave my side. During his vaccinations, he was not complying with the doctor so he had to be held tightly.
Photo Caption: In this photo, I am trying to relieve my dog’s nerves before he gets taken in the back. He eventually became quite relaxed and went with the nurse freely.
Activity: I had to go pick up some vitamins and dog food for my animal. He is not a fan of dry food so I had to look for his specific wet food.
Commentary: This activity was actually very simple but this goes along with having a responsibility. The responsibility is making sure I have time to go pick up some food and vitamins whenever he needs them.
Photo Caption: In this photo, I am strolling around PetSmart looking for the correct food. My dog was being playful with other customers so that was nice.
Activity: I went over to my facilitator’s house to discuss my dog’s adoption and the entire process. I was informed about techniques and how to appeal to the public.
Commentary: When I first arrived, it was awkward having to knock on her door since I am a shy person. After I was there for a little bit I eventually became comfortable. We talked for more than an hour and she even asked if I wanted another dog.
Photo Caption: My facilitator and I taking a selfie to end our discussion. After this she offered me a snack and I went on my way.s. I had to research what to put in my description for some of the applications that I am using. Certain words could hook in a possible candidate.
Activity: I had to go pick up some vitamins and dog food for my animal. He is not a fan of dry food so
