This afternoon I met my project facilitator in his office at our church; we went over what we would need in order to start the club. I also met the head of all the First Priority clubs and talked with him about what it took to start a club and get some of the criteria they used to teach.
By meeting with my project facilitator and the head of all Fish Clubs, I got a plan started and figured out what was necessary in order to get my project rolling.
My facilitator and I meeting with the head of the First Priority Clubs, he ran out before I could get a picture, getting to know one another while brainstorming our new club.

I met with my project facilitator to talk about the possibilities of starting my club and getting the paperwork to complete. I was informed that starting my club would not be possible so we brainstormed new ideas of what to do for my senior project.
I was really discouraged to find out that I couldn't start a club at one of the nearby schools but got approval to run the fish club at Oak Grove. In order to do so I would have to take on a few extra responsibilities.
My project facilitator and I after meeting to discuss future plans of my project and what it means for the club.

I looked through my list of songs that I am able to play; I then proceeded to pick out two songs to do for the club meeting. Since it had been a year since I had played guitar I had to practice both songs a couple times.
It was difficult to just pick up the guitar and play again. My calluses that had built up wore away after my long summer break, which makes it difficult to play chords.
In this picture I am practicing the songs for the next meeting. I had to look up the chords, learn the songs, and then print out the chord sheets so I could have them to use at the next meeting.

I practiced the songs that I picked out on Thursday so I could play them correctly for the club. I had to sharpen my memory a little because it has been a while since I played in front of someone.
I am nervous about playing in front of the kids. I know that kids should be less intimidating than adults but from ASP I know that kids are brutally honest and I already get really nervous.
Me practicing the songs for Wednesday so I can have fluent chord transitions and strum the right pattern.

While watching the election, I brainstormed a design for a t-shirt, a color for the t-shirt, and then tweaked everything to be centered and look appealing as a whole.
This was the first time I ever designed a t-shirt. It was very frustrating because I could not get the words centered on the shirt because I was using a laptop. It was also difficult because I wasn't sure if the adults would like one as well or if it was only for children.
I am designing the t-shirt while watching the elections. There wasn't really a lot of action going on in the elections during this hour so I took the time to really focus and design the t-shirt to the best of my ability so the kids could have a really cool t-shirt to represent their club.

My aunt and I thought over what kind of snacks would be appropriate, not too unhealthy, and yummy for the kids to have during their Christmas party.
My aunt was in town so I decided to use her wits to my advantage. As a mom, she could help me pick something she would be okay with her kids snacking on at a school club. We just brainstormed as we babysat my baby brother.
My aunt took a picture of my baby brother and I cuddling in the living room as we bounced ideas of possible snacks back and forth.

I researched games for children that were Christmas themed for a solid fifteen minutes before I finally gave up and turned my sights toward crafts.
I slowly realized that a game would not work for these kids because they were not used to having to listen to me, because I am younger and a newer face. I decided that making reindeer candy canes would work better.
I was discussing with my sister, behind the camera, which idea would work best with a group of third through fifth graders.

I spent this time planning and making the playlist for the Christmas Party. In order to add a song to the playlist I had to listen to it to make sure it was appropriate before playing it in front of the kids. This playlist consisted of fun, classic Christmas songs as well as popular Christian songs.
It was a little tedious to listen through every single song before adding it but better safe than sorry. I also had to go through various playlist that others had made on spotify in order to find the top Christian songs and Christmas classics.
In this picture, I am standing in my living room going through Spotify in search of classic Christmas songs and top Christian tracks.

I spent this time making the flyer for the Christmas party on a google doc. I made it Christmas themed through the pictures and colors.
This was very easy to complete because I have made a lot of flyers for school projects. The only thing was that it was time consuming because I had to look through the google images to get the cute pictures for the flyer.
I am making the flyer for the Fish Club Christmas party. After I had finished making it I sent it directly to my project facilitator to approve before we sent it out to the parents and our teacher sponsors and volunteers.

I ran to the store with my dad and brother to pick out some juice boxes and goldfish. I needed to get the individually wrapped thirty count box of gold fish and a box of juices that was the best value, I'm a broke high school student living on a budget.
I was really excited to go buy the snacks because I am really pumped for this Christmas party. As a kid I could never be part of Fish Club because of my transportation to school so I'm really happy to get to run this club and meet all the kids.
I am comparing all the prices of the juice boxes with how many comes in a box so I can ensure a fun Christmas party.

On my way from school to Fish Club I stopped by Walmart so I could run in and grab googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and these little puff balls so we could make little reindeer candy canes as a craft during the Christmas party.
I was still really excited about this party. While buying the craft supplies I accidently bought the wrong amount of googly eyes so we were short some. The kids loved making cyclops reindeers.
Me looking at my choices and trying to get the best deal while still having enough for all the kids, which I failed with the googly eyes.

My computer had restarted and I lost my previous design so I had to recreate it using a picture I had saved in my phone.
Re-making the t-shirt was a lot easier with already having an idea of what it should look like and knowing how to make it look like its suppose to.
Here I am having to redesign my t-shirt for the Fish Club due to technical difficulty.
Wednesday January 11, 2017
I took pictures of my t-shirt design and showed them to my project facilitator to get his approval so we could hopefully get the t-shirts soon.
I was pretty proud of what I had accomplished with the t-shirt design. For it being my first shirt I ever designed it looked spiffy. My project facilitator was impressed.
My project facilitator and I are looking at the t-shirt design I sent him so he can approve of it or make any tweaks necessary.

I ran my idea of what my service project could be by him and he approved. My service project will be writing cards to a family friend who lost her son who was a young adult, to cancer.
It breaks my heart to think of the family who lost their son, one of my friends. I know that she could use a little sunshine during this rainy time, so I want to give her what I have...the love from kids. In ASP the kids always make me drawings and write me little cute things on them and it warms my heart; I want the same for the McDonald family especially Mrs. Wanda, the mom.
My project facilitator and I meeting inside his office at our church to go over the service project and get approval to do it with the students.

I picked out two songs for the Fish Club meeting and then practiced them a couple times each to ensure I could play them like they sounded, I play by ear.
It's difficult for me to figure out some songs because I am a self-taught on the guitar and I cannot read music. In fact I have no previous experience or knowledge in music.
I am practicing the songs in my kitchen with my family so they can tell me if I sound bad.

1 hour and 15 minutes
My project facilitator and I met up when I got out of school to discuss the club and how I am doing with the senior project part of it. We also took my t-shirt design and recreated it into photoshop so we could send it out to multiple t-shirt distributing companies and get quotas so we can purchase them at the best price. We also discussed the possibility of just using the design for next year's shirts because the parents may not order them so late in the year.
I had never used photoshop design so it was really cool to learn how to use the program and learn a little bit about it. I really liked getting to see all the tools you could use and the endless possibilities of designing a t-shirt in photoshop rather than some random website.
This is a picture of my project facilitator and I redesigning the t-shirt template into photoshop.

I had to relearn a song that I used to do from when I was little, it had a video so all I had to do was run through it about five times while doing the motions with the video. Then I had to think of how I was going to present the service project to them in a way they would understand.
I was thrilled when I found the song that I used to do when I was little. I was really excited to be able to sing and dance to this song with them. Although the service project was a little more serious. It saddened my heart that some of the kids just didn't really care, but there were others who poured their hearts into their cards.
I am practicing one of the songs that are on my list for the meeting on Wednesday.
March 6, 2017
I communicated with both my aunt and my project facilitator to plan the service project and find out and make a list of any supplies I need for the service project.
I am kind of nervous about doing this service project with these kids. I don't really know how they will react to this project we are doing.
This is a pic of me talking on the phone with my aunt, she lives in Maryland, while communicating with my project facilitator over text.
March 7, 2017
I planned the songs for this week's meetings as well as practicing them and getting the service project sorted out and ready for the kids.
I am feeling the pressure of having to get up in front of all these kids and try to explain why we are making these cards, but I know it will work out and it's just my nerves getting to me.
This is a picture of me practicing the songs for this week's meeting.
March 8, 2017
I am practicing the songs for this week's meeting. It is taking less time because I am doing one song to a video so we can have enough time to do the service project.
I'm not going to lie, it is rough keeping up with everything between my two jobs and school. So I practiced for less time because I couldn't afford to take more time away from homework.
In this picture, I am practicing some songs on guitar. Though this time I only went through it once before I decided I needed the video.
March 11, 2017
I went through my list of songs I could do and started planning out which song I am going to play for the next meeting. I played through a couple to see how well I remembered them which affected whether I would play them or not.
I am struggling to find time to practice so I wanted to get as far ahead as I could in preparing for the next meeting because my schedule has been a little busy.
I am practicing the songs I will do next meeting. I am also weeding out the songs that may be too hard to pick back up at this time.
March 12, 2017
I read through all of the cards that I had collected during the meeting. I needed to read through some of the cards to make sure they were appropriate to send to this grieving mother.
It broke my heart to read card that the children just did not care about, but it also broke my heart (in a good way) to read the very, very good cards written by a couple of the students.
This is a picture of me reading through the cards to make sure they are all appropriate.
March 14, 2017
I met with my project facilitator to work out some kinks in our schedules that may affect the club and also discussing what to do with some cards I cannot send due to some unintentional insensitivity.
It broke my heart that I had to put some cards to the side because they were not appropriate to send. The kids meant well by what they said but it is just something she shouldn't have to read.
My project facilitator and I throwing peace signs to celebrate the end of our awkward pictures and also to surviving this year with our little "school" of young fish. n some random website.
I'm not going to lie, it is rough keeping up with everything bet
