PRESIDENT’S REPORT MAY 2017.
Greetings to all, so far May has been a very busy month for us all with one of our bigger projects completed, Mother’s Day flowers. Lion Alan Ruse headed up the project as he has done in past years, thanks for a good job Alan and for the long hours spent on the project.
Thanks also to Angus McGregor for driving the truck and picking up the flowers assisted by Lions Keith and Greg, Angus is also going to return the buckets to Oliveries nursery.
We sold the last bunch at 9.10am on Sunday morning and sales totalled $11,032.55. Our thanks to all who gave of their time, including our two new members who will be inducted on Thursday, Fay Harden, and Margaret Robertson.
Lion Tony ran the raffle at the Warners Bay markets last Saturday which realised in excess of $400.00, well done Tony and thanks to those who helped sell the tickets. Lion Tony will have more on the development of this market project at a later date.
We also ran the Mac’s BBQ last Saturday, thanks to Lions Martin, Jenny, Dot and Viv who then helped to sell flowers. Lion Jenny stayed up late and cooked one of her great date slices which fed the ravenous horde on Saturday, thanks for your caring Jenny.
The Lions Club of Edgeworth have expressed their desire to come and join with us at Warners Bay, I understand the process of transferring their membership is under way.
Lion Colin Rolles who is the president of Edgeworth with two members visited our club at the last meeting, we look forward to them joining us.
At our May board meeting it was agreed that we accept the members of Edgeworth Lions club into the Lions Club of Warners Bay.
The LMCC Social club have again invited us to cook the BBQ at their December Xmas tree event at Swansea Pool on December 10th,2017. This is a good project where usually there would be approximately 250 adults and children to cater for.
Again, thanks to all for your service and commitment over this busy period, your dedication and friendship makes this a great Lions club, be kind to each other.

Second VP Report

Lions Board Report and Inclusion into the Bulletin.
Hello Fellow Lions,
A quick update on a couple of things:
Another big thank you to all who have contributed to the Mother’s Day raffle prize. (By the time you see this the day will be done, but our goal is to raise $400 from the raffle and to get 1 new membership enquiry for martin to follow up.) ... Let’s see how we go.
The funds from the golf day are to be distributed at our change over meeting on 15 June. The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDC) and the Lions Mobility Foundation are the beneficiaries.
Darren Parmenter is the new contact for the RIDC and has been invited to join us for dinner on 15 June to accept the cheque.
That’s all from me. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums and grandmums.
Lion Tony Yen.
As we draw near the end of this Lions year I do not have much to report. This being the second last board meeting and the next one will be the shadow board meeting where I pass all over to Lion Nancy who officially starts as secretary on the first July.
Although not on the next board I have been asked to look after the hall hire which when I look back in the thirty-three years I took three years off when I was diagnosed with my form of Motor Neurone Disease. So, for the thirty years in Lions the next Lions year will be my first year not on the board.
Will I miss it? Yes, of course I will, but having the Thursday night off I may go late night coffee shops as Lion Christine walks around looking into the shop windows wondering what to buy for me, Ha. Ha that will be he day. To Lion Nance I sincerely hope your time on the board is as much rewarding as it was for me, but please remember I am just around the corner if help is needed, but knowing Nance who has been there done that who will I believe do a great job.
My biggest hurdle was not being able to speak properly due to problems with my speech.
I may be early but I thank all the board members especially President Bruce for asking me to be his Secretary and to all board and other members thank you for your impute and assistance this past year.
Lion Alistair Secretary.
