It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before Me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” Romans 14:11
I’ve had doctors recommend a dual knee replacement twice now. I’m certain it would give me some relief from the pain and part of the attraction is the fact that I could, comfortably, kneel at an altar. As a child I was taught the sanctity of the church altar; that it was a holy place where one could meet God.
I realize churches have changed; most of the “new” buildings are multipurpose and it seems to me those teachings have given way to functionality and comfort. I respect each Christian’s mode of worship; I love the old hymns and am also spiritually moved by the words of many contemporary songs. I enjoy clapping and tapping, often I will life my hands in praise to the Lord but I also reserve my desire to fall on my knees before God at an altar of prayer.
The Lord God is always and forever; I don’t understand but believe it! He is WORTHY of the praise of all mankind. Someday, as the verse says, all will bow before Him ~ every person will acknowledge WHO GOD IS! The same God who so many seek to deny, to bad-mouth, to tear down, to use and misuse WILL be recognized and magnified by everyone! What an awesome thought!
Jack Hayford’s anthem of praise brings thoughts of that glorious day:
Majesty, worship His Majesty!
Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise.
Majesty, Kingdom authority,
Flows from His throne, unto His own,
His anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify, Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship His Majesty,
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all kings!
