Annual Report of NIPM Punjab Chapter for the year 2016-17 During the year, EC Members held regular EC Meetings. 10 Number of Executive Committee Meetings were held in the year 2010-17 AGM Of the Chapter 1. The chapter held its AGM for the year 2015-16 on 20th August 2016 in the evening at Hotel Metro, Chandigarh. The Members adopted Annual Audited accounts for the year 2015-16 and ratified the existing Executive committee as given below to continue and take the chapter forward under the chairman ship of Mr. S.P. Bansal The executive body compromises of the following members: 1. Mr. SP Bansal Chairman 2. Mr. SB Khullar: Vice Chairman 3. Dr Madan Mohan Aulakh: Vice Chairman 4. Mr A. K. Bakshi: Honorary Secretary 5. Mr. Ravinder Chadha Hon. Treasurer 6. Mr Jasbir Singh: Executive Member 7. Ms Renu Singh: Executive Member 2. Executive meetings: The Executive body of the Chapter held 10 executive meetings during the year 2016-17 i.e. on 16.04.2016, 28.05.2016, 23.07.2016, 13.08.2016, 03.09.2016, 01.10.2016, 20.11.2016, 22.01.2017, 11.02.2017 and 05.03.2017. 3. Expert Session AGM was followed by talk by Col. Gursewak Singh (Retd.), a renowned Management Consultant and speaker , on “It is all in the Mind-Health, Happiness or Stress”. The program was attended by several HR Heads and professionals across industries from Private and Public-sector companies from Punjab, Himachal and Chandigarh. At the onset, a welcome note was delivered by Mr. S.P. Bansal, Chairman of the Chapter highlighting efforts to revive the chapter and activities undertaken by the chapter last year and path forward. At the close of the program, a vote of thanks was given by Dr Madan Mohan Aulakh, Vice Chairman of the Chapter Dr. Som Saini, past Chairman of the Punjab Chapter and a member of Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) addressed the members calling upon all to be active contributors in the Chapter's onward journey. Also present were Past Chairmen of NIPM (Punjab Chapter) Mr. Darshan Kumar and Mr. PC Sharma, who addressed and motivated the participants to make it a vibrant chapter again. 4. Formation of Committees: In the executive meeting dated 03.09.2016, various committees were constituted to undertake various activities. Following Committees were constituted: i) Press Relations Committee comprising Mr. Ravinder Chadha and Mr. S. B. Khullar ii) Website Committee comprising of Dr. MM Singh and Mr. Somnath Sanka iii) Training Committee comprising of Mr. S. B. Khullar, Dr. MM Singh and Dr. Som Saini. iv) Event Organising Committee comprising of Mr. S. P. Bansal, Mr. Ravinder Chadha and Mr. Jasbir Singh v) Membership Committee comprising of Mr. S. B. Khullar and Mr. A. K. Bakshi. 5. ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON LABOUR LAWS AT NFL, NANGAL (PB) NIPM Punjab Chapter organized a One day Off Site workshop on Labor Laws at NFL , Nangal (Punjab) on 20.11.2016 .Our Chapter Executive pooled to constitute the Faculty and earned a revenue for the Chapter. Welcome address and introduction of faculty was done by Mrs. Renu RP Singh, Dy.GM (HR) NFL and Introduction of NIPM was given by Mr. S. B. Khullar, Vice Chairman of the Chapter. This was followed by introduction to Labor Laws by Mr. A.K. Bakshi, Hon. Secretary of the Chapter. A presentation on ESI & EPF and Minimum Wages Acts was given by Mr. Somnath Sanka. Presentation on Factories Act was delivered by Mr. S. B. Khullar, and Presentation on Contract Labor (R&A) Act by Mr. S. P. Bansal, Chairman of Punjab Chapter. Presentation on latest developments in Labor Law enactments was made by Mr. A.K. Bakshi. An interesting session on Employee engagement was delivered by Dr. Som Saini, our past Chairman followed by Questions and Answers session. The program was well received by the audience comprising middle management personnel across functions. 6. Interaction with Educational Institutes NIPM Team comprising of Dr. S R Saini, Past Chairman and Mr. S P Bansal, Chairman of the chapter were invited by Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bhadal, Ropar in Punjab for Industry - Academia interaction on 9th September 2016. Session on Challenges in Corporate world and employability were delivered by Dr. Saini and Mr. Bansal. A presentation on NIPM was also made for enhancing student membership. It was followed with good interaction with Final year students of Management, Hospitality and Engineering students and faculty members. 7.Membership drive a) The Chapter is vigorously taking up membership drive and has been able to add 5 members including one Institutional membership in the past 6 months. Efforts are on to enroll more members b) On 28th Jan 2017, NIPM Executive Team specially visited various Industrial Units in Baddi like Sun Pharma, Dabur, Vardhman Textiles, Havells India, and Legacy foods, in H.P. for networking and to create awareness about NIPM and enhance Membership base. 9. Training programs To raise funds, the Chapter has planned to explore and offer a series of programs to industry in the region and have identified Topics where members can deliver sessions. 10. ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON LABOUR LAWS AT NFL, BHATINDA (PB) NIPM Punjab Chapter organized another One-day-Off site workshop on Labor Laws at NFL Plant, Bhatinda (Punjab) on 21.04.2017. Our Chapter Executive pooled to constitute the Faculty. Welcome address and introduction of faculty was delivered by NFL Unit Head Mr. Sunil Arora and Mr. H V Varshney HR Head of NFL Bathinda. This was followed by introduction to Labor Laws by Mr. A.K. Bakshi, Hon. Secretary of the Chapter. A presentation on ESI & EPF was made by Mr. Jasbir Singh. While Presentation on Factories Act was delivered by Mr. S. B. Khullar, and Presentation on Contract Labor (R&A) Act was made by Sh. S. P. Bansal, Chairman of Punjab Chapter. Presentation on latest developments in Labor Law enactments was made by Mr. A.K. Bakshi Advocate. An interactive session on Employee engagement was delivered by Dr. Som Saini, our past Chairman followed by Questions and Answers session. The program was well received by the audience comprising 40 middle management personnel. 11. ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON LABOUR LAWS HELD IN HOTEL METRO-43, On 10th June,2017 ,NIPM Punjab Chapter organized its first Public workshop on Labour Laws which was attended by 45 HR Heads /Professionals from the public & private sector organizations based in Punjab & Himachal Pradesh. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr Rakesh Kumar, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner 1, Zonal Office Chandigarh who also delivered a session on various initiatives undertaken by PF Organization. The workshop was conducted by Officials from Factory Directorate (Punjab), ESI Corporation and Executive Members of National Institute of Personnel Management (Punjab Chapter). Mr SP Bansal chairman of the Chapter welcomed the dignitaries, highlighted achievements and plans of Punjab Chapter. He also appraised the delegates about Contract Labor (R and A) Act. Mr. S B Khullar, Vice Chairman spoke on Prevention of Sexual Harassment of women at workplace. Mr. Narinder Singh, Deputy Director of Factories shared his views on compliances under Factories Act 1948. Mrs. Savita Dobhal, Assistant Director-ESI enlightened the audiences regarding ESI Act. Mr. Ajay Bakshi, Honorary Secretary spoke on industrial disputes Act. Vice Chairman of the chapter Mr. SB Khullar thanked the participants. While Hon Secretary Mr. Ajay Bakshi spoke on ID Act. Mr Chadha spoke on Payment of Gratuity Act and Payment of Bonus Act. The program was anchored by Dr. Madan Mohan Aulakh, Vice Chairman who also gave a brief about NIPM at the start of the workshop.
